Dr. Mario Rocci – President, ICON Development Solutions

Dr. Mario Rocci joined ICON as the former CEO of Prevalere Life Sciences, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of ICON plc) in 2008. He served as Executive Vice President of Global Bioanalytical Sciences, overseeing ICON’s expanding Bioanalytical Sciences group, until his current appointment as President, ICON Development Solutions.

Mario's 29 years of industry experience includes positions such as Head of the Laboratory of Investigative Medicine and Research Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was part of a team of Clinical Pharmacologists conducting Phase I-IV clinical studies on drugs undergoing development. Dr. Rocci was also a Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.

Actively involved in the industry, Dr. Rocci served as the 2004 President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), a professional society of over 12,000 members, having previously been elected to a three year term on the AAPS Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and is Chairman of the Board of the Product Quality Research Institute (PQRI). He has authored over 125 scientific publications and has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sciences and the regulatory requirements of the FDA.

Dr. Rocci earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and a B.S. in Pharmacy from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
 

Dr. Anthony Priestley, MD Medical Director

Dr Anthony Priestley MBChB MFPM is a graduate of Edinburgh University Medical School, and has been working in early stage clinical research since 1999. Prior to joining ICON he worked as a Research Physician for F. Hoffman-La Roche and Serono, and was the Medical Director of LCG Bioscience. In these roles he has been responsible for performing hundreds of clinical trials across a wide range of therapeutic areas. Dr Priestley holds the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine and is both a Member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine and an Educational Supervisor for the faculty. In this capacity he oversees the training of junior doctors in the specialty.

Tom Hoggan, Manager Volunteer Recruitment & Screening

Tom Hoggan is an experienced leader and manager having previously worked within various large telecommunications companies. He is responsible for the daily supervision of the volunteer recruitment and screening teams and for ensuring that the required number of volunteers are recruited to participate in the studies conducted at our unit. In his time managing recruitment at ICON Development Solutions he has populated in excess of 100 studies and is experienced in sourcing special or challenging populations. In addition he is responsible for the planning and implementation of successful advertising and marketing strategies contributing to the ongoing increase in database numbers and retention of volunteers.
